Have Fun With Your Fruit Platter This Season

The ultimate highlight and the success of any party or function is the quality of food served. The centerpiece of any feast lies in the fruit platter. Whatever food they consume over whatever course, many people would love to top it off with some fruits. Apart from the creativity involved, the type and quality of fruits chosen is also very important.

The décor of the room, the flower arrangements, even the music should be a part of the edible fruit arrangement. A fruit platter livens up any event and the combination of colors usually makes the platter arrangement a huge success. Even kids who normally wouldn’t touch the fruit section when they see other delicious food items in the main course would be attracted by the arrangement and will be willing to try out some of them.

There are so many different varieties of fruit platters that you can prepare, depending upon the occasion and the budget you have set aside for it. Once you decide to throw a party for Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year, you will be brainstorming on the menu part. Don’t just write ‘a fruit platter’ when you decide the menu list and then forget about it. The type of fruits that you plan to include in your fruit platter is very important because, believe it or not, the durability of the fruits could make or break your party. Don’t include fruits that get spoiled easily. Try to avoid Fuji apples, peaches, pears and bananas because they tend to lose their color and quality quite quickly. You don’t want to display fruits that goes brown for your platter, do you?

Similarly, don’t buy the fruits several days ahead of the party, just because you want to get the job done with. You will find that most of the fruits have gone over-ripe on the morning of the party. When you go shopping for your party, its quite natural that you will be attracted by the sheer outer beauty of certain fruits, like the berries. Don’t buy them, then, buy them only the day before the party because they ripen quickly. Buy pineapples and melons a couple of days before the party, because only then they will be in the right state.

Decide on the shape of the fruit platter that you want to have. Some people like it round, some like it oval and yet some others like it rectangle. The shape of the fruits platter will be dependant on the number of guests you are going to have for the party. Some of the fruits found quite common in any party are strawberries, apples, pineapples, plums, berries, apricots, melons, kiwis, grapes, lemon and some mint leaves for garnishing. Leave plums, berries, strawberries in their whole shape, cut the rest into beautiful edible shapes after removing the seeds, and then garnish them with mint leaves. There, your fruit platter has reached its crescendo from which there is no going back.
